As a result, the AEX2/CES2 loop will be combined with the AEX1/CEM loop, starting from late November. The rotation and fleet composition of the newly created loop will be based on the AEX1/CEM loop.
The last AEX2/CES2 sailing will depart from Port Kelang on November 26 when the Ever Conquest sets sail, Alphaliner said.
"This rationalisation is expected to displace the nine ships of 7,000-10,000 TEU currently employed on the AEX2/CES2 (five from Evergreen, three from Zim and one from CSCL). Some of the ships are to be cascaded into other services while the remaining units will be left without assignment in the coming weeks," it said.
The shelving of the AEX2/CES2 will remove 8,500 TEU per week, or 3.2 per cent of capacity, on the Asia-North Europe trades.
