A record water level decline in the Danube has caused delays of coal shipments and coal congestion in Izmail port’s storage facilities of at least 334,000 tons, the Izmail Port Authority said.
According to the port’s dispatcher office, every day the railyard takes 187 coal-laden railcars on average, or 12,000 tons per day. This is at least 515,000 tons of export coal to be stored at the port’s warehouse.
Ukraine’s Izmail Sea Commercial Port is a state-owned stevedoring company operating in Port of Izmail. The company owns three terminals, a fleet of barges, dry bulk carriers, towboats, a floating landing stages, pontoons, workboats and floating cranes. In 2010, Izmail Sea Commercial Port increased its cargo handling by 27.4% year-over-year, to 6,633,000 tons.
