Russia’s Bulava missile launch delayed until 2012

The Russian Defence Ministry has pushed back the date of the fourth and this year’s final launch of the Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile from November 28th to June next year due to an unfavourable ice situation in the White Sea, the Voice of Russia reported.

Earlier, the Defence Ministry planned firing two missiles in a salvo launch, with the ensuing passing the missile and the missile-carrier, Yuri Dolgoruky submarine, into service.

The Bulava-30 missile can deliver up to 10 hypersonic manoeuvrable individually-targeted re-entry vehicles, capable of changing the flight trajectory.

The maximum flight range of the missile makes up 8,000 kilometres.
