FESCO’s Kapitan Khlebnikov to escort oil tankers and LNG carriers

The icebreaker "Kapitan Khlebnikov" owned by Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) departed today, Feb.1, 2012 the home port of Vladivostok, to head for the La Pérouse Strait, the shipping company said Wednesday.

Over the past years the FESCO owned icebreaker has been providing icebreaking assistance under the contract with Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd. to large tankers and LNG carriers sailing to the port of Prigorodnoye, which is located in the Aniva Bay in the southern Sakhalin. The icebreaker is expected to operate in the area through March.

Vladivostok-based JSC Far Eastern Shipping Company is part of FESCO Transportation Group. The Company is the ocean carrier of bulk and general cargoes. The company’s fleet comprises 67 vessels of total 900,000 DWT. FESCO is the biggest operator of Russian ice-breaking fleet. In 2010
FESCO revenue totaled RUB 3,252,765,000, 115 million rubles more than a year before. Net income for the year under RAS reached RUB 952,743,000.
