OOCL hikes Asia - Europe box rates

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is hiking rates on the Asia - Europe trade as it seeks to bring freight rates back to sustainable levels, Seatrade Asia online reports. The Hong Kong-based line is increasing rates on Asia - Europe by $200 per teu from 15 February.
“Currently, ocean freight rates continue to be below the required level to cover basic operating costs or transportation costs on our North Europe to Asia trade,” OOCL said in a customer advisory. The company said further rate restorations would be announced “in due course” during the year.
