Damen Shipyard Galati launches FISVs for Angola

Damen Shipyards Galati announced it launched on December 9, 2011, the hull number 1190, Fishery Inspection & Surveillance Vessel 6210. This vessel is the first one from a contract of three, for the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries of Angola, the shipbuilding firm news release said

Two vessels are built in a joint cooperation with Damen Shipyards Gorinchem. DSGo provides the design and the major equipment and the vessels will be completely built and finished in Galati.

Building and finishing of the vessel is supported by specialized companies (co-makers) respectively: for insulation, upholstery and furniture - Helmers (supported from own Galati branch) – Eekels as electrical installation and equipment –with the support from Eekels Romania in Galati; for painting and conservation – Muelhan and for air conditioning  and ventilation Johnson Control with support of De Haan Galati.

To be able to perform the inspection the vessel will be equipped with a Monicap room for fishery inspection in local Angola waters. Besides that a treatment room, boarding boat and other facilities will be installed to perform general tasks

Building in Romania of such vessels represents a very clear sign of integration in European structures, but also gives a high appreciation about the shipbuilding standard reached in Galati shipyard.
