Huanghua port's two new container berths start operations

Two new container berths in the multi-use terminal at Huanghua port, a port in northern China Hebei province on the Bohai Gulf, commenced operations and will raise the port's container handling capacity to 1.15 million TEU, Xinhua reports.

Being part of the Huanghua Integration Port Area Phase 1 project, the two container berths have a total capacity of 400,000 TEU, able to accommodate ships of 100,000 tonnes.

The two berths are equipped with four quay cranes and four rail gantry cranes. The quay crane is 73 metres tall and can lift up to 65 tonnes. The outreach of the crane is 55 metres. The rail gantry crane is 20 metres tall, can lift up to 41 tonnes with a span of 33 metres.

As of December 29 last year, Huanghua Integration Port Area Phase 1 handled 11.19 million tonnes of cargo.
