FESCO's icebreaker arrives in La Perouse Strait

The Kapitan Khlebnikov, an icebreaker owned by Far-Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) PLC arrived on Monday from Vladivostok in the La Pérouse to assist tankers and LNG carriers under the time-charter agreement between FESO and Sakhalin Energy Investment Company Ltd., RIA Novosti reported.


For several recent years the icebreaker has been escorting to open water large tonnage tankers and LNG carriers sailing to / from the port of Prigorodnoye, which is located in the Aniva Bay, southern Sakhalin. The icebreaker is expected to operate in the area through March.

Vladivostok-based JSC Far Eastern Shipping Company is part of FESCO Transportation Group. The Company is the ocean carrier of bulk and general cargoes. The company’s fleet comprises 67 vessels of total 900,000 DWT. FESCO is the biggest operator of Russian ice-breaking fleet. In 2010 FESCO revenue totaled RUB 3,252,765,000, 115 million rubles more than a year before. Net income for the year under RAS reached RUB 952,743,000.
