Shipments of cargo from terminals of JSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport in January 2012 totaled 1,177,600 tons, a 1.7-percent gain year-on-year and up 111% from planned figures, the company said Wednesday.
Monthly volume of handled iron ore concentrate soared by 51% from 2011’s numbers to 1,060,000 tons, handling of non-ferrous metals rose by 31%, shipment of converter matte increased by 32%. Handling of ISO-20, ISO-40 containers (export, import and short-sea container traffic) rose by 16% and 67%, accordingly. Kirov ore-dressing and processing enterprise increased shipments of apatite concentrate by 9.1%.
In January, Murmansk port handled 40 ships (last year’s level) and 19,510 railcars (+10%).
OJSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport (MMTP) was founded in 1994. The company operates 17 berths of total length of about 3 km. The water depths enable access of vessels with draft of 15.5 m and length of more than 265 m. The stevedore specializes in handling ranged cargoes, including non-ferrous metals and alloys in packages, rolled ferrous metals, coal, apatite concentrate, alumina, and scrap and iron ore pellets in bulk, chemical products in bags and big-bags, construction cargo and foodstuff. Net income of MMTP under RAS for the first half of 2011 shrank by 30.2% to RUB 138,534,000, revenues – down by 3.7% to RUB 1,403,254,000.
