Port Novorossiysk traffic volume up nearly 7 percent

Cargo throughput at the terminals of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group (NCSP Group) in January 2012 grew by about 7% from a year ago, to 13.8 million tons, the Group said on Friday.

“The January results were significantly influenced by weather conditions in Novorossiysk. There were eight storm warnings with total duration of more than 12 days during this month. The last time similar weather conditions were observed in December 1997.

However, despite the unfavorable weather, the NCSP Group management team was able to achieve growth in cargo turnover of 6.9% versus the same period of the last year,” NCSP’s Deputy CEO, Marketing & Sales Rado Antolovic was quoted as saying.

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group is the largest Russian port operator. The NCSP Group incorporates the following stevedore companies: PJSC Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, PJSC Novorossiysk Grain Terminal, OJSC Novorossiysk Shipyard, PJSC Fleet of NCSP, OJSC NovorosLesExport, OJSC IPP, Baltic Stevedoring Company Ltd. and PJSC Primorsk Trade Port Ltd. (since 2011). In 2011, cargo throughput of NCSP Group (including PTP) totaled 157 million tons.

NCSP shares are listed on the Russ. RTS and MICEX (ticker NMTP), on the London Stock Exchange (in the form of GDR, ticker: NCSP). In 2009 the NCSP Group’s throughput amounted to 86.5 million tons. Consolidated revenues for the first 9 months of 2011 under IFRS amounted to $782 million, EBITDA - $404 million.
