FESCO Group would be willing to invest in the project of a terminal in the Kazakhstan free trade zone in Khorgos on the border with China, RBK Daily reports citing a Kazakhstan official.
According to Vice-President of "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” (Kazakhstan Railways, KTZ), Logistics CEO, Yerkhat Iskaliev, as of now, 82 potential investors have submitted bids for the terminal project contract.
Previously, Transcontainer’s CEO Peter Baskakov has reportedly stated that the company would be willing to participate in building container yards in Khorgos, adding that the project "will be considered, but later."
Kazakhstan has been engaged in the development of the International Centre for cross-border cooperation in Khorgos and the construction of the Khorgos-Zhetygen railroad. In the long term a free economic zone Khorgos - East Gate is projected to be created, which will include the industrial sector, a transport and logistic complex "dry port", which will be linked to the rail network and the Western Europe-Western China highway.
