The Supreme Court has dismissed a writ filed by DP World of Dubai against the Jawaharlal Nehru port's decision in 2009 to scrap a tender for developing a small container berth, reported The Hindu. A senior JNPT official said that the court has ruled in its favour. This means, the port trust can now go ahead with the tender process again, he said. DP World was one of the two short-listed parties for the project. The tender was cancelled by the Shipping Ministry in view of the poor response. DP World petitioned the court against the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust's decision. For DP world, the project is important as the proposed terminal is close to its existing terminal at the port. The proposed terminal is a single berth of 330m. Meanwhile, JNPT has re-tendered the project and DP World is also among the bidders.
