Ust-Luga expansion is among priority investment projects

The project of integrated development of the port of Ust-Luga and the adjoining territory, being implemented by JSC Ust-Luga Company, has been included in the list of priority investment projects of Russia’s North-West Federal District. The document has been signed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the Company’s press release said.

The port expansion program intended for the period until 2020 provides for the creation on the territory of Kingisepp municipal district in the Leningrad region of several parks, Transportation and Logistics, Industrial, City-cluster, Recreational and Agricultural.

The territory development is driven today largely by the Transport and Logistics cluster, including the port of Ust-Luga. The port has now eight operating terminals and soon there will be six more. By 2018, the total number of cargo handling complexes should be increased to nineteen and the port's annual throughput will be about 180 million tons. The port’s expansion completion will create about 7,000 jobs.
