Kronstadt post of Baltic Customs has launched an experiment for processing, screening documents on arriving ships, crew, passengers, cargo and vehicles crossing the Customs Union / Russian border, Ship Arrival Notification System. The pre-arrival notifications are submitted via web-based applications by ship agents, the regional Baltic Customs office said.
The Baltic Customs authorities began preparations for the experiment in the summer of 2011. The pre-arrival notification technology is aimed to facilitate trade flows passing through the marine posts of the Baltic Customs and expedite customs clearance procedure. The pre-arrival data submission is not an obligatory procedure as yet.
The experiment will continue at Kronstadt customs post until April 30, 2012.
