First container shipment by rail at ULCT
The first two import containers-laden flatcars were dispatched on May 6th from near-dock Luzhskaya railyard. The containers were handled at Ust-Luga Container Terminal (ULCT) for intermodal shipment, the ULCT’s owner National Container Company (NCC) said.
Freight forwarder is Intransservis company. The containers were loaded onto flatcars with the use of tractor-trailers and RMG cranes.

ULCT’s first phase annual capacity is 440 000 TEU, total area – 40 ha, quay length – 440 m, depth alongside – 13.5 m, storage capacity – 78,700 TEU, reefer plugs – 6,000, handling equipment – 4 STS (Panamax), 11 RTG, 2 RMG. The maximum capacity of 2.85 million TEU will be available at ULCT by 2025. ULCT is managed by NCC and EUROGATE, Europe´s leading container terminal and logistics group.
