Port of Singapore four-month traffic climbs 0.8 percent
Cargo throughput at the Port of Singapore in January-April 2012 totaled 178.27 million tons, a 0.8-percent gain from a year before, the Port Authority statistics said.
In the reporting period, crude oil shipments through Singapore port fell 12.1% to 56.94 million tons, while container traffic increased by 6.4% to 10,136,900 TEUs.
Singapore is the city-state located on an island in Southeast Asia. Container traffic at Port of Singapore in 2011 rose 5.3% year-over-year, to 29.93 million TEUs. Annual cargo throughput at the port totaled 530.48 million tons.
