VCT four-month box volumes jump 28 percent to 117,700 TEU
Container throughput at Vladivostok Container Terminal (VCT) in January-April 2012 was 117,000 TEUs, up 28% from the last year’s figures, the stevedore company said. In 2011 the facility was operating only on Berth # 16. Taking into account container volume handled at Berths Number 14-15 the terminal’s throughput was 3% down.
In April, handling of containerized imports / exports at the facility totaled 30,471 TEU a 1.34-percent drop month-on-month. During the period, there were 29 (versus 36 arrivals in March), with an average turnover per vessel at 1,051 TEUs. The monthly volume of exported containers totaled 10,597 TEU (+0.03% month-on-month), of imported containers – 13,488 TEUs (+5%). Short sea traffic reached 6,386 TEUs.
