Lines eye rates increase from June
The lines are continuing with their bullish sentiment as Hanjin Shipping, joining other major lines such as OOCL and MSC, announced it will impose a peak season surcharge of $350 per teu and $700 per feu on all dry reefer and special shipments from Asia and the Middle East to North Europe and the Mediterranean from 1 June, Seatrade Asia online reports.
Hanjin said the peak season surcharge "is inevitable" as it has to deal with rising operating costs resulting from repositioning containers back to Asia to accommodate increased demand for outbound cargo.
