Maxim Sokolov appointed as Transportation Minister
Maxim Sokolov will taker over the office of the Minister of Transport in the new Russian Government replacing Igor Levitin.
Maxim Sokolov was born on September 29, 1968 in Leningrad (now - St. Petersburg). In 1991 he graduated from St. Petersburg State University, majoring in economics and started his career as a lecturer at the University Faculty of Economics.
In 1992-1999 he held the post of CEO Rossi CJSC and later was CEO of Corporation C Ltd.
From 2004 to 2009 he was in charge of the Committee on Investments and Strategic Projects of the Government of St. Petersburg. In 2009,
Mr. Sokolov was a member of the St. Petersburg government, chairman of the Committee for Economic Development, Industrial Policy and Trade.
On December 4 2009 Maxim Sokolov was appointed head of the Department of Industry and Infrastructure of Russian government.
Maxim Sokolov is married, has three sons.
