China Rongsheng names two valemaxes
China Rongsheng Heavy Industries Group has named the first two 380,000 dwt VLOCs of four in the series to be built for Oman Shipping Company, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The vessels, Vale Liwa and Vale Sohar, are to be deployed on the iron ore trade route between Brazil and Oman, and will begin sea trials and be prepared for final delivery soon.
On final delivery Oman Shipping will charter all four ships to Vale to support the operation of Vale’s ore distribution centre in Oman, and carry cargo along the iron ore trade route between Brazil and Oman.
Sohar, Oman's largest port, has built specialised facilities for the trade, including a newly-completed berth to accommodate 380,000 dwt VLOCs. In addition, China Rongsheng has just delivered the Vale Dalian, its third valemax VLOC to Vale.
