Port of Ilyichevsk welcomes arrival of 278m-long box ship
On May 22, 2012 the 5500TEU Genoa Bridge laden with 520 containers called at the Port of Ilyichevsk. The vessel has deadweight of 67,197 tons, length overall - 278 m, breadth - 40 m, draft – 12.2 m, the company said.
After unloading the vessel will take on board 690 containers and depart on May 23, 2012.
State-owned Sea Commercial Port of Illichivsk (Ilyichevsk) ranks among Ukraine’s top 4 seaports. The Port of Ilyichevsk encompasses 346 ha, 6km of waterfront with 29 berths. Its handling and warehouse facilities enable import/export freight flows of over 30 million tons a year. The port’s projected container volume reaches 1.15 million TEU a year. Illichivsk port is able to accommodate simultaneously 3 ocean containerships of capacity of over 5,000 TEUs and a length of 300 meters. In November 2011, the port saw the arrival of the largest ever container ship – the 8,006teu Tibul with deadweight of 94,665 tons, length of 300 m, breadth of 46 m and depth of 13.5 m.
