Norway's Havyard Group secures PSV contract from Global Offshore in India
Havyard Group signed a contract for delivery of a PSV vessel to Global Offshore with option for one further delivery. Since 2005 contracts to the value of NOK 2 billion have been signed with the Indian shipping company, the Group press release said.
This will become offshore vessel number 7 and 8 from Havyard to Global Offshore (formerly Garware). Five vessels have already been constructed and delivered from Havyard Ship Technology in Leirvik, Norway. The Fosnavåg-based company is also in the middle of constructing a vessel of a Havyard 832 design, due to be delivered from the Leirvik shipyard in March next year.
And just before last weekend the latest contract for a vessel of a Havyard 832 design to be delivered in July next year, was signed to the value of NOK 270 million. There`s also an option for delivery of a vessel of the same design in March 2014. The 8 vessels have a value of around NOK 2 billion.
Furthermore, these are the 16th and potentially the 17th design sold of this popular Havyard 832 design.
CEO Geir Johan Bakke of Havyard Group AS is proud by what the business group from Fosnavaag, Norway has managed to achieve in India and in particular in relation to Global Offshore.
"It is like a little Norwegian industrial fairy-tale. What is really rewarding in terms of this cooperation is the fact that we learn something new almost every day. We are of course extremely pleased to have a customer like Global trusting us over and over again, and we are once again aiming to prove we are worthy of this trust," says Geir Johan Bakke of Havyard Group.
Global Offshore Ltd (formerly Garware) has 12 vessels, 5 PSVs, 6 anchor handlers and a large barge. The shipping company operates these vessels in the North Sea, Brazil, India and in West Africa.
Aditya Garware, Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Global Offshore Services Ltd., is very satisfied with the vessels that Havyard has delivered and as a result Global Offshore has decided to continue placing orders at Havyard Group.
Global Offshore believes that when it comes to ordering technologically advanced vessels, Havyard is the right choice for them.
Commenting on this, Aditya Garware says: "Even though a Havyard vessel may cost more than vessels in some other countries, the quality and reliability of the vessels are extremely satisfactory. We are delighted with Havyard and with the performance of their vessels and also with the fact that deliveries of the ships, which is vital, happen on time. In addition, operating costs in terms of repair and maintenance are also low. As a result the off hire periods are the shortest possible and Havyard`s vessels also tend to keep their value many years after delivery."
In addition to constructing vessels, the business area of Havyard Ship Technology (HST) has previously entered a purchasing agreement with Global Offshore. The agreement involves Havyard Group acting as the purchasing coordinator for Global Offshore Services in all their future operating- and maintenance needs throughout the world.
