Yangzijiang Shipbuilding bags order for six fuel-efficient 1,100 teu containerships
Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has bagged an order for six fuel-efficient 1,100 teu containerships from Lomar, Seatrade Asia Online reports.
The vessels are designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute and Lomar said they have much improved fuel consumption and the ability to carry up to 220 reefer containers. The boxships are scheduled for delivery from May 2014.
“There is a distinct lack of global newbuilding orders for these particular, improved CV1100 ships so they will meet real needs and be vital to the future of high-performance shipping around the world,” said Achim Boehme, ceo of Lomar.
“At Lomar, we always want to ensure a diversity of quality vessels for the various needs and requirements of marine transportation. Given the excellent reputation of the shipyard, we believe this order will encourage our clients and charterers as well as demonstrating our dedication to modern, economic shipping.”
