Authorities in the Chinese city of Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province plan to invest more than CNY100,000 (US$12,718) to build a mega logistics park on the banks of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, reports Xinhua News Agency.Designed to occupy a site measuring 130 hectares, the logistics park will feature a 2,000-ton-capacity cargo terminal and warehouses that will be able to store a total of 400,000 tons annually. The logistics park will be divided into six main areas, which will comprise a terminal handling area, a cargo distribution section, three warehousing areas separately dedicated to handling grains, construction materials and commodities, and an area to provided related logistics services. It is estimated that once the park is established it will handle about four million tons of cargo a year worth CNY18 billion, the report added.
