  Emirates Shipping imposes surcharge on cargo in Chennai port

  

  Emirates Shipping Line has announced that it will impose Container Imbalance Surcharge, $120 / TEU for dry and reefer cargo handled at the Port of Chennai, effective from June 1, 2012, the shipping company press release said.
  
  The surcharge was slapped "due to severe congestion at the Port of Chennai resulting in a clear trade imbalance," the Middle East operator said.
