Hamburg Süd and partners reconfigure their Asia-Mexico/West Coast South America service
To cover peak season demand Hamburg Süd and their partners CCNI, China Shipping, Hanjin and Hyundai will reconfigure their service between Asia and Mexico/ West Coast South America, the German Group's press release said.
The new service will continue to operate with two slings at increased capacity and new rotations, starting with South America configuration in June, finalizing with Asia configuration at the end of August 2012.
Sling 1 will see the deployment of ten vessels with a capacitiy between 4,500 and 5,700 TEU (nominal) (previously eleven 5,500 TEU vessels). The port rotation in Sling 1 starting at June 2012 is as follows: Shanghai – Ningbo – Shekou – Hong Kong – Busan – Manzanillo (Mexico) – Lazaro Cardenas – Callao – Iquique – Puerto Angamos – Valparaiso – Keelung
The port rotation in Sling 1 starting at August 2012 is as follows: Keelung – Hong Kong – Shekou – Xiamen – Ningbo – Shanghai – Busan – Manzanillo (Mexico) – Lazaro Cardenas – Callao – Iquique – Puerto Angamos – Valparaiso – Keelung
In Sling 2 eleven container ships with a capacity of 5,500 TEU (nominal) will be deployed (previously ten ships with a capacity between 3,100 and 4,500 TEU). The port rotation in Sling 2 starting at June 2012: Keelung – Hong Kong – Xiamen – Ningbo – Shanghai – Busan – Manzanillo (Mexico) – Balboa – Buenaventura – Guayaquil – Puerto Angamos – Valparaiso – San Vicente – Manzanillo (Mexico) – Busan – Shanghai
The port rotation in Sling 2 starting at August 2012: Shanghai – Ningbo – Yantian – Hong Kong – Busan – Manzanillo (Mexico) – Balboa – Buenaventura – Guayaquil – Puerto Angamos – Valparaiso – San Vicente – Manzanillo (Mexico) – Busan – Shanghai.
The new service concept with rotation changes in South America will commence with the “Xin da Lian” (Sling 1) from Shanghai on 17 June 2012 (135E) and the “Monte Sarmiento” (Sling 2) from Keelung on 12 June 2012 (224E). The new service rotation will finalize in Asia with the “Xin da Lian” (Sling 1) from Keelung on 26 August 2012 (137E) and the “Monte Sarmiento” (Sling 2) from Shanghai on 30 August 2012 (235E).
With the above service optimization Hamburg Süd and their partners will improve transit times – eastbound and westbound – for their markets in Asia, Mexico and South America West Coast and ensure faster connection to the Pacific, Atlantic and Caribbean service network of the shipping group via Balboa.
