NCSP Group’s cargo volumes rise 6 percent to 68.4mln tons (Update)
Cargo traffic across the stevedoring assets of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group (NCSP Group) in January-May 2012 increased by 6% (+3.9 mln mt) compared to the same period a year ago, to 68.4 million tons, the Group’s press release said.
Liquid bulk volume handled by the Group during the reporting period climbed 2.5% or up 1.2 million tons from a year earlier.
The five-month volume of crude oil exports totaled 47.9 million tons, which represents an increase of 1.8%. The growth is attributed to the increase in volumes of Primorsk Trade Port Ltd by 1.1 million tons or by 3.7%.
Shipments of oil products through the Group’s terminals rose 3.6% or 300,000 tons more than a year before to 7.8 million tons, including 2.3 million tons of diesel fuel exported from Primorsk Trade Port Ltd.
In the first five months, the NCSP Group handled 3.6 million tons of grain.
Handling of bulk cargoes in Jan-May surged to 102,500 tons from 17,600 tons a year ago.
Shipments of general cargoes during the period rose 18.1% (+700,000 mt). The growth was mainly attributed to the increase in turnover of ferrous metals by 0.8 million tons (26.2%), in timber by 9.1% (+ 29,000 mt) and in other cargoes by 32,000 tons, which more than offset the decline in non-ferrous metals (-25 thousand tons) and perishable cargoes (-104 thousand tons).
The Group’s five-month containers volume remained flat, 262,000 TEUs (vs 267,000 TEUs in 2011). Minor decline in volumes in Baltiysk (-6 thousand TEUs) was offset by increase in containers throughput in Novorossiysk.
