Chongqing box traffic rises 30.7% in May
The Port of Chongqing, on the upper reaches of the Yangtze, posted a 30.7% gain y-o-y gain in container volumes to 70,000 TEU in May, which was also 19.3 percent more volume than in April, Xinhua reports.
The port's overall cargo volume in May increased 14.2 per cent year on year and increased 8.3 per cent from April to 10.32 million tonnes. Foreign trade cargo throughput surged 61 per cent year on year and 26.4 per cent month on month to 430,000 tonnes.
From January to May, Chongqing port's container throughput climbed 26.4 per cent to 321,100 TEU. Throughput tonnage grew 13.1 per cent to 48.26 million tonnes. Foreign trade cargo throughput increased 31.7 per cent to 1.73 million tonnes.
