Rosneft Marine opens second office in Beijing
Rosneft Marine, the international marine fuel trading office of Russian state owned oil giant Rosneft, has opened a second office in Beijing, China, the company said in a statement today, Ship and Bunker reports.
As well as expanding support for their Asian client base, the move aims to cash in on the increased demand for low-sulfur fuels when the North American Emissions Control Area (ECA) comes into effect from August 1, 2012.
"With the establishment of Emission Control Areas in North America, we foresee a rising demand for low sulphur fuel oils particularly for vessels traveling from Asia to the West Coast of the United States," Mr Vladimir Brezhnev, director of Rosneft Marine UK, said in the company statement.
"We intend to work closely with regional ship operators who have U.S. bound vessels to supply them with ECA compliant low sulfur fuels of the highest quality," he added.
Ms Lu Sha, sales manager of the company's Beijing branch said they were "also looking into the possibility of supplying marine gas oils to the Chinese and regional markets."
The company say they are continuing to seek expansion opportunities in different parts of the world.
Rosneft began developing its bunkering business in 2007 and established Rosneft Marine in London, England, in 2010.
