STX gets $650m in orders for 11 vessels
South Korea's STX has won contracts for 10 container ships and one LNG carrier, worth US$650 million, reported Maeil Business Newspaper.
A European shipping line placed an order for the 5,000 TEU ships that will be built at its Dalian yard in China with delivery from the third quarter of 2014, said STX. The ship costs US$45 million each.
STX Offshore and Shipbuilding also won a contract from another European shipping line to build a 160,000 CBM-class LNG vessel for about $200 million. The contract contains an option for one additional vessel. The gas carrier will be built in Korea with delivery in the fourth quarter of 2015.
