Hapag-Lloyd hikes rates on East Asia-North Europe trade

Hapag-Lloyd, a leading shipping company announced it would implement a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) - $350 / TEU, for all cargoes and all container types from East Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe, effective August 1, 2012 until September 30, 2012.

In addition to the above, Hapag-Lloyd will implement a General Rate Increase (GRI) for all cargoes and all container types from East Asia (excluding Japan) to North Europe of $250 per TEU with effect from August 15, 2012.

North Europe comprises North West Continent, the U.K., Scandinavia, Baltic and European ports of Russia.

East Asia comprises Japan, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China (PRC), Macao, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brunei and Russian Pacific Ports of Vladivostok and Vostochny.
