APM Terminals gets nod to expand Pipavav Port

The Union ministry of environment and forests has granted environment and coastal regulation zone clearances for the proposed expansion and modernisation of APM Terminals’ Pipavav Port, reprted The Times of India.

Sources said, the port, located about 140 km from Bhavnagar, has four dry cargo berths with a continuous quay length of around 725m and fourth berths with an additional quay length of 350m and an LPG berth for handling liquid cargo and LPG.

The port has developed a container storage yard on an area of 11 hectare and coal storage area is 17 hectare. It has deep draft of 14.5m. The port handles more than three million tonnes of bulk and around 600,000 TEUs per annum.

The proposed project envisages addition of 2,450m berth length for handling roughly 26 million tonnes of bulk and more than three million containers per year.
