The Black Sea Shipyard (CHSZ, Ukraine) has been awarded a contract for construction of a multipurpose sea-going tugboat of G07DL project the Latvian company PKL Flote, the Ukrainian enterprise said. The tug delivery is scheduled for the summer of 2013.
The G07DL project ship was designed at the shipyard’s design office. The is intended for towing barges and floating facilities, for escorting ships at harbors, in the Baltic Sea, for firefighting on ships and for ice-breaking operations. The tug is powered by two main engines, propulsion system consists of twin controllable-pitch screws and twin rudders. The vessel has ice-class hull. The tug will be constructed in accordance with the rules of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
State-owned JSC The Black Sea Shipyard, founded in 1897, is now the largest enterprise in the industry in Ukraine. The company specializes in repair of tankers, bulk carriers and other types of vessels with dock weight of up to 7,000 tons and length of 130 m. Kherson Shipyard holds a 90.25-percent stake of the company.
