Baltic Plant-Shipbuilding set to bid for 60MW icebreaker contract

LLC Baltic Plant-Shipbuilding based in St. Petersburg is preparing to put in a bid for a contract for construction of nuclear-powered icebreaker of capacity of 60 MW, the company’s press service said citing the shipyard CEO Alexander Voznesensky.

The Baltic Plant-Shipbuilding official said that the enterprise has all the necessary facilities for the construction of LC-60, no capital investment is required.

"We’ve had a basic plan of the construction and it will be submitted to the customer in the tender documentation package," the press service quoted Alexander Voznesensky as saying. The company did not unveil the bid price.

LLC Baltic Plant – Shipbuilding (BZS) is a member of United Shipbuilding Corporation established in late 2011. The firm was created after the former enterprise Baltic Plant announced its insolvency for the transfer of workforce and the production facilities. By January 2012, the majority of employees of the Baltic Plant had joined BZS.
