Kazakhstan’s Port of Aktau traffic down 16 percent

Cargo throughput at RSE Aktau International Commercial Sea Port (Port of Aktau, Kazakhstan) in January-June shrank by 16 percent compared to H1 2011, to 5,675,000 tons, the company’s statistics said.

During the reporting period, crude and oil product shipments totaled 3,745,000 tons, dry bulk cargo - 1,910,000 tons, including 708,000 tons of steel products, 335,000 tons of grain and 176,000 tons of other cargoes. Ferry cargo shipments totaled in the reporting period 691,000 tons.  
The number of arrivals was 987.

In June, Aktau Port handled 1,025,000 tons of dry bulk cargo and oil products, including 697,000 tons of oil products, 108,000 tons of steel products, 152,000 tons of ferry cargoes, 41,000 tons of grain and 27,000 tons of other loads. In June, there were 171 calls at the port.

The Republican State Enterprise Aktau International Sea Commercial Port (Port of Aktau), located on the east coast of the Caspian Sea, is the premier port of Kazakhstan. The port is a gateway for international trade flows passing through the country. The Aktau port’s terminals handle a broad range of dry cargoes, crude oil and petroleum products.
