Container throughput at China's Shanghai port in June increased compared to year-ago figures but retreated month-on-month, Seatrade Asia online reports.
The Chinese port moved 2.77m teu of boxes in June, a 5.7% gain compared to 2.62m teu recorded in the same month of 2011, according to figures from Shanghai International Port (Group).
Volumes in June, however, decreased 2.4% compared to 2.84m teu seen in May this year.
In the first five months of 2012, Shanghai port handled 15.86m teu of containers, a 3.6% increase compared to the corresponding period of last year.
