SASCO buys multipurpose M.V. Kunashir

Sakhalin Shipping Company (SASCO) has expanded its fleet with yet another ship, the second vessel purchased in line with SASCO’s fleet upgrade program. The multipurpose ship named M/V Kunashir , the Company said on Friday.

Two weeks ago, the company's specialists have accepted delivery of similar ship M/V Simushir. Both vessels built in 1998 at a Holland shipyard have 9150 DWT and a maximum capacity of 604,000 TEUs.

Currently the MV Kunashir is undergoing refitting at Shanghai-based shipyard, for conversion of the ship under classification of Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.

OJSC Sakhalin Shipping Company (SASCO) is one of the largest shipping companies in Russia. SASCO operates a fleet of ice-class vessels capable of carrying a wide range of cargoes: containers, general cargo, equipment, suction and grab bulk cargo, timber and wood products. The company provides year-round transportation from the ports of De-Kastri, Vanino and Sovetskaya Gavan.
