Estonian railway freight traffic down 9% in H1, 2012

Cargo transport volume at the Eesti Raudtee infrastructure in the first six months of this year fell by 9.1% as compared to the same time last year to 14.47 million tonnes, Public Broadcasting reports.

In June the volume was 1.77 million tonnes, by 26.4% less than in June last year.

Oil products transport volume fell by a half, from 1.63 million tonnes in June last year to 0.82 million tonnes this June. In six months, 8.68 million tonnes of oil and oil products has been transported, a fall by 20.2%.

 Container transport totalled 26,932 TEU in the first six months, by 76% more than last year. In June, 4,452 TEU of containers was transported, a 59% increase in a year, reported LETA.
