The port of Singapore got busier last month as container throughput rose 9.2% year-on-year, according to figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Seatrade Asia online reports.
In June, Singapore port handled 2.71m teu of boxes, a strong improvement from 2.48m teu moved in June 2011. Last month's throughput, however, dipped 3% compared to volumes recorded in May 2012.
In the first half of this year, Singapore posted 15.64m teu of throughput, a 7.3% increase from 14.58m teu seen in the same period of last year.
