CMA CGM to launch new Asia-Africa service

CMA CGM and Delmas will launch a new weekly Asia-Africa route to cater to South Asian and West African trades, Seatrade Asia online reports.

The New Africa Express (AFEX) service will commence from 24 July with 10 container vessels ranging from 4,000-4,500 teu. CMA CGM will provide two vessels and Maersk will offer eight.

The AFEX service will replace the existing Maersk operated FEW3 service.

The new AFEX service will ensure schedule reliability with owned berthing windows as well as fast transit time with for example Yantian-Tema in 37 days,” said Ludovic Rozan, vice president of CMA CGM Africa, Indian Ocean and Oceania Lines, and Mathieu Friedberg, general manager of Delmas.

The port rotation will be Yantian, Nansha, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Klang (West Port Terminal), Capetown, Pointe Noire (Congo Terminal), Tema, Capetown, and back to Yantian.
