Container traffic at the Port of Los Angeles (USA) in January-June 2012 increased by 6.45% compared with the same period last year, to 4.01 million TEUs, the Port Authority said.
In June, handling of containerized imports / exports rose 8.75 percent to 696,847 TEUs.
Port of Los Angeles is the largest seaport of the United States. The Port encompasses 3.5 ha, 69km of waterfront and features 27 cargo terminals, including dry and liquid bulk, container breakbulk, automobile and omni facilities. In 2011, Port of Los Angeles handled 7.9 million TEUs. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach form together the U.S. port complex, one of the world’s biggest hub.
