Icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsyn sets sail on Arctic voyage

The icebreaker Kapitan Dranitsyn owned by Murmansk branch of Rosmorport yesterday, July 18, departed from the seaport of Murmansk on a cruise voyage with 116 Russian and foreign passengers on board, Rosmorport said.

The icebreaker was chartered for 10 days by the interregional public organization "Association of Polar Explorers' for tourist trips on the route through the Barents and Kara Sea to the archipelago of Franz Josef Land without entering the territorial waters of other states.

The safety of passengers and staff during the voyage will be ensured by the experienced crew of the Murmansk branch of Rosmorport.
The diesel-powered icebreaker Kaptain Dranitsyn has class KM ( *) LL3 [2] AUT2, capacity of 24,000 hp, 45-mm-thick hull, displacement - 12,288 tons. The ship was built a Finland’s Wärtsilä and certified to international standards, including as a passenger ship designed to operate in severe environments of the Arctic seas.

The icebreaker has accommodations for 128 passengers (60 cabins). Of the total number 52 are double-berthed cabins, including 6 luxury-class ones, and 8 cabins designed to accommodate three passengers.
