Yaroslavsky Shipyard launches Project 745mbs tug for Russian Defense Ministry (photo release)
Yaroslavsky Shipyard (managed by JSC VP FINSUDPROM) on December 14, 2012 held a launching and naming ceremony for sea-going tugboat of Project 745mbs. The vessel named “Victor Konetsky” is being built for the Russian Ministry of Defense, the shipbuilding company press release said.
The Project 745mbs vessel features high seaworthiness, able to operate in all areas of the oceans. The tugboat is designed for escorting and maneuvering ships, refloating stranded ships, to extinguish fires on stricken ships and onshore facilities, to perform survey using remotely operated underwater vehicle, to evacuate people from the water.
The vessel was designed by JSC Vympel Design Bureau based in Nizhny Novgorod. The tugboat complies with specifications of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
“The tugboat (Hull No 444) launching was ahead of schedule, which was scheduled for April 2013. This will allow Yaroslavl shipbuilders to complete the order of the Ministry of Defense ahead of schedule order and make room at the yard for other orders," the shipyard press release said.
