Cavotec secures orders for motorised reels
Global engineering group, Cavotec, has secured three orders for its motorised cable reel technologies from port equipment manufacturer, Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Co Ltd (ZPMC), and Abu Dhabi based crane manufacturer, Trans Gulf Port Cranes (TGPC), Port Strategy reports.
The companies ordered the motorised reels for installation on ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and rail-mounted gantry (RMG) cranes at DP’s World’s new container terminal at Jebel Ali Port in the UAE. The equipment will power 19 STS and 50 RMG cranes at the port’s new terminal 3 container handling facility, which is expected to handle 4m teu annually.
Juergen Strommer, managing director of Cavotec Middle East, said: “We are delighted to once again work with our long term partners ZPMC and TGPC on this project, and we look forward to continuing our cooperation in the future.”
DP World is currently developing 1,600m of quay wall and 70 hectares of yard space for the new terminal within the existing port area.
Cavotec’s equipment is already in use at container berths in Jebel Ali and a number of other DP World facilities worldwide. It's also involved in the process of carrying out a project to electrify rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes at Jebel Ali.
