Ukraine’s seaports throughput climbs 0.8 percent

The volume of cargo handling in the ports of Ukraine in January-November 2012 rose to 140.76 million tons, up 0.8% over the same period last year, the country’s State Statistics Service said.

Exports grew by 17.2% year-on-year to 88.71 million tons, while handling of imports fell 14.5% to 15.06 million tons, transit cargo shipments dropped 18.6% to 35.34 million tons.T

Freight traffic passing through river ports of Ukraine during the period totaled 6.4 million tons, an increase of 2.8% compared to January-November 2011.
