Tallink Group reports December - February results

1.8 million passengers travelled with ferries belonging to the Tallink Group from December to February, the second quarter of the company’s fiscal year (1 September to 31 August), up by 15.1 per cent compared with the same quarter the previous year.
84,000 people travelled on the Stockholm–Riga route, up by 43.2 per cent on the service where Silja Festval has replaced Vana Tallinn. The largest number of passengers, 750,700, was as usual on the Tallinn–Helsingfors route, where competition has eased. The number is up by 13.8 per cent despite the withdrawal of one daily return trip by a Superfast vessel. Services between Finland and Sweden were up by 13.7 per cent, to 743,700 passengers.
Cargo volumes have been hit on all services except on the Stockholm–Riga route. In contrast, the number of cars has increased by 27.6 per cent in average.
On the Helsingfors–Rostock route, that today is served by two Superfast vessels instead of previously three, the number of passengers has fallen by 33.2 per cent, while the number of cargo units was more than halved to 6,324.
