Hamburg Sud combines Med-SA services

Hamburg Sud is cutting capacity in the trade between the Mediterranean and the east coast of South America due to what it called deteriorating market conditions.
The German carrier is combining the present two-string operation into one weekly service as of this week.
This will reduce the total nominal capacity by 1,700-TEUs per week, which it said should result in a more adequate balance between supply and demand.
The revised service will operate with seven 4,200-TEU vessels, of which Hamburg Sud will provide three.
The loop will have the following rotation: Valencia, Tarragona, Barcelona, Livorno, Vado Ligure, Malta, Dakar, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Paranagua, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Pecem and back to Valencia.
