In Jan-Feb 09 all types of transport in Ukraine carried 97.4 million tonnes of cargo (-33.5%, year-on-year), State Statistics Committee reports according to Ukrainian News.
Railway cargo transportation fell by 32.5% to 54.6 million tons.
In particular, transportation of grain and its products rose by 3.6 times.
Transportation of crude oil and petroleum products fell by 25.8%, iron and manganese ore - by 32.3%, wood - by 46.4%, ferrous metals - by 38.1%, construction materials - by 62.5%, chemical and mineral fertilizers - by 31.4%, ferrous metal scrap - by 30.8%, coke - by 30.8%, cement - by 65.2%, and coal - 10.5%.
In January-February 2009, main pipelines pumped 25.9 million tons of cargo, a decrease of 34.8% compared to January-February 2008; petroleum transit fell by 4.2%, and that of gas fell by 53.9%.
The river and sea trading fleet reduced cargo transportation by 50.7% to 1 million tons of cargo.
Enterprises engaged in automobile transportation transported 15.9 million tons, a decrease by 33% compared to January-February 2008.
According to data of the State Statistics Committee, the volume of cargo turnover decreased by 37.9% to 51.38 billion tons/kilometers compared to January-February 2008.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, cargo transportation fell by 35.1% in January, 2009 compared to January 2008, to 47 million tons.
