Russian Govt sets Sabetta port boundaries
The Government of the Russian Federal in its order (№ 242-R), 26 February 2013 has established the boundaries of the Yamal-based seaport of Sabetta, Rosmorrechflot press release said.
The port construction start was marked by an official foundation stone laying ceremony on 20 July 2012. Investments in the project are estimated at RUB 75 billion. Russian government will invest in the project 49 billion rubles and private investors, Russian NOVATEK and French Total, are set to inject 25 billion rubles.
Construction of the port is implemented through the public-private partnership. The state will be responsible for dredging, construction of an access channel and the Vessel Traffic Management and Information Systems. JSC Yamal LNG (the main shareholder of Novatek) will construct surface facilities of the port infrastructure.
The Sabetta port project is part of Yamal LNG project, which aims to develop Yuzhno-Tambeyskoye gas condensate field on the Yamal Peninsula and the construction of a gas liquefaction plant with capacity of 15 million tonnes of LNG and up to 1 million tonnes of condensate.
The LNG plant first phase launch is scheduled for 2016 year. The port of Sabetta will become a hub for LNG cargos to be transported via the Northern Sea Route.
