Federal Fishery Agency (Rosrybolovstvo) and Rosneft OJSC have come to an agreement on bunkering all fishing vessels in Russia’s fishing ports, PortNews IAA reporter cites Andrei Kraini, head of Rosrybolovstvo, as saying at the Agency’s meeting held in St. Petersburg today. Kraini noted that Russian fishing vessels get bunker fuel at unreasonably high prices, an obstacle for Russian fishing companies to withstand competition with foreign counterparts, for example Norwegian ones, in terms of fish prices. “According to our agreement with Rosneft, the company will provide bunker fuel in all Russian fishing ports at global prices as a direct seller,” Kraini said. “Calculations show the price for a tonne of fuel will be RUR 3,000 less than the current one and less than that of intermediate sellers.”
Rosneft is the largest oil company in the Russian Federation. The company’s proved hydrocarbon reserves under SPE classification are 21.699 billion barrels of oil equivalent. In 2008, Rosneft output increased by 21%, year-on-year, to 46.44 million tonnes. The growth should be attributed to the increased output of Tuapse and Komsomolsk Refineries as well as to acquisition of five large refineries in the second quarter of 2007. The volume of retail trade increased 1.8 times, year-on-year, to 4.06 million tonnes.
